Stickley Brothers Furniture, Decorating Department

1920s

The photo of the furniture decorating department in the Stickley Brothers factory shows sixteen men and women applying decorative designs to various pieces of furniture. They sit at the left of the room near the windows. Behind the woman in the foreground either folding chairs or tables are leaning against the wall. A folding screen rests between the two closest windows, and several coats and hat hang along the wall. At the right is a piece decorated with the oriental motif of a peacock. The man in the rear on the right appears to be James Seino, head of the department. Many tables, chairs and chests are stacked about the room.
