William C. Horner - 1889
The artist's view looks toward the northeast, the buildings fronting on Lyon Street, with the Grand River in the foreground. The drying kiln has smoke coming from the chimney and lumber is stacked outside; the factory is to the right of the kiln. The warehouse and showrooms occupied the tallest building, later becoming the Pantlind Exhibition Building, which stood at the NE corner of Lyon and Campau. The building to its left, closer to the river, was demolished in June of 1931 to made way for the Civic Auditorium.
