The description tag on the desk reads, "Burled thuya wood, English, ca. 1865. Having a brass gallery rail and a leather slant front writing surface. Inlaid banding of satinwood and kingwood. The writing surface opens to three small drawers and four open compartments. A side door contains four drawers, each with an English registry mark indicating the date 1865. The front kneehole area is flanked by two columns with brass capitals and terminals. Four brass casters. Some cracking and veneer loss. Inner knob and small drawer missing."
