The Austrian clock, item 91 in the Baker Collection, is described in the Sotheby catalog as, "An unusual and fine Austrain Neoclassical painted and parcel-gilt tole, wood and plaster figural clock, Vienna, second quarter 19th century, the brass dial inscribed J. M. Schmit Wein, within a celestial sphere and above a long case inscribed and dated 1836, set on a circular foot resting on an octagonal plinth carved with Egyptian and Neoclassical motifs. Losses, age cracks, finish chipped, and repairs. Height 7 feet 6 inches; width 32 inches; depth 30 inches. $10,000-15,000.
