John F. Samuelson

1871 - 1965

John Samuelson was reportedly hired as Oriel Cabinet Company’s designer in 1900 at double the salary he had received from his previous employer. He also worked for a time at Berkey & Gay Furniture Co. and was one of Hekman's designers. He was trained as a cabinetmaker, but received a formal education through Drexel Institute, the Philadelphia School of Fine Art, and the University of Pennsylvania. He died in a local nursing home in 1965 at the age of 94.
