Gerard LeDonne

1888 - 1953

Gerard LeDonne was born in Florence, Italy in 1888 and attended art schools in England and Beaux Art School in France. He studied at Cooper Union Institute in New York before going to London to study with Waring & Gillow. He was sent to their branch in Buenos Aires, Argentina where he designed furniture and interiors for many of the finest home in the Argentine capital. Returning to the United States, he joined the design staff of Berkey & Gay. He had his own office for thirty years, and LeDonne won acclaim for his French Provincial designs for the Drexel Furniture Co. of Morgaton, North Carolina. He died July 12, 1953 at the age of 65.
