Clayton M. Hawk

Clayton Hawk was an American designer of Welsh decent. He was born in 1892 in Johnstown, Pennsylvania. After studying at the Cleveland School of Art, he worked for W.F. Whitney Co. of N. Ashburnham, Massachusetts, before coming for Grand Rapids in 1927. His first position was as a designer for the Sligh Furniture Co. He was a member of the Grand Rapids Furniture Designers Association and at the time of his death, March 4, 1952, he was designer for furniture companies in Louisville, Kentucky; Lenoir, North Carolina; Hagerstown, Maryland; Lexington, Kentucky, and Listowel, Ontario.
