William H. Eggebrecht

1875 - 1959

William Eggebrecht studied at the Chicago Art Institute and spent his spare time working as an apprentice for the John A. Dolby & Sons Co. of that city; later he became a graduate designer for that concern. He joined the Berkey & Gay Furniture Company in 1914 as one of the head designers until 1930 when he began a freelance career. In 1925, Herbert Hoover selected him to serve on the commission to report on the International Exposition of Modern Decorative and Industrial Arts being held in Paris. He served as president Furniture Designers Assoc. in 1924. Mr. Eggebrecht died August 5, 1959 at the age of 84.
