Aurelio Bevelacqua

1898 - 1963

Aurelio Bevelaqua, furniture designer and instructor at Kendall School of Design, was born in Rome in 1898, but came to this country as an early age. He studied at the Academy of Design in Rome, traveled the inevitable road of design talent in the United States to W. & J. Sloane in New York, and later Grand Rapids. Here he worked for the Robert W. Irwin Co., designing their Phoenix line. He opened his own office in 1933 as a freelance designer. He died on November 9, 1963.
