circa 1883 - circa 1891In 1883 a patent was granted to inventor Joseph Penney for his American Eastlake-style combination dressing case and sanitary washstand. Its patented action allowed the above-drawer counter top with mirror to pivot, revealing a second marble counter top with inset sink, and a faucet pipe attached to its own water reservoir.
